ERSA is the European Regional Science Association, constituted by some 18 national or language groups with some 3'000 members active in nearly every country of Europe.
ERSA is the largest of the supranational bodies which make up the Regional Science Association International RSAI.
ERSA's main objectives are to foster the exchange of ideas at the European level and promote studies focusing on regional space, utilising innovative tools, methods and theoretical frameworks specifically designed for regional analysis, as well as concepts, procedures and analytical techniques of the various social and other sciences.
The Association supports these objectives by promoting acquantaince and discussion amongst members of the RSAI and with scholars in related fields, by stimulating research, by encouraging the publication of scholarly studies, by holding an annual congress and by performing other services.
The Summer Institute is one of this supplementary services.
