Hotel Accommodations

Preliminary hotel reservations for participants have been made at hotels situated comfortably in the city center. These rooms are at special convention rates and can be booked directly by participants using the hotel websites and emails provided below. Reservations are on a first come first served basis. To receive the convention rate, you must indicate you are attending the “ABC convention”. Convention participants will settle their hotel bills individually. You can also visit the web sites provided at the end of the page if you’d like further information about accommodations in Lugano.

Reminder: May 29, 2003 is a holiday, and long weekends are traditional in some countries. Participants are encouraged to reserve their rooms early.

A smaller number of rooms is also being held by the Hotel Excelsior.

Other hotels can be found by visiting the website of the Association of Ticino Hotels: www.scta.ch.

How to Reach Lugano

Lugano can be easily reached by air, train and auto.
For travel information, see www.lugano.ch/tools/come_arrivare.cfm. For train schedules go to www.rail.ch and use the “fast timetable” on the left frame.

A few more details: The Lugano Agno Airport is located on the outskirts of Lugano. From the Zurich airport, you can transfer to a flight to Lugano Agno or you can take the train from Zurich to Lugano (just over 3 hours). You can also fly to the Milan Malpensa Airport, located outside of Milan, Italy, and just over an hour from Lugano. The Malpensa Shuttle runs between Lugano and the Milan Malpensa airport (Terminal 1 is the new terminal). The schedule is available at http://www.busexpress.com/shuttle.asp. The departure from Malpensa Terminal 1 is on the arrival level, in front of door/exit no. 4, bus parking place no. 19 Current fares for the Malpensa Shuttle: Swiss Francs 30 / Euros 20 one-way, and Swiss Francs 50 / Euros 35 round trip.

Please note: Milan’s other airport, Milan Linate, hosts limited travel. Although Linate is located in the city of Milan, Malpensa is more conveniently located for travel to and from Lugano because there is no need to get too close to the city of Milan itself.
