Communicating in Business:
Meeting the Challenges of a Changing World

The Association for Business Communication (ABC) European Region will hold its fifth convention in Lugano, Switzerland, May 29-31, 2003.

The convention is organized in conjunction with the University of Lugano, Faculty of Communication Sciences, Department of Corporate Communication.

The main theme of the convention is "Communicating in Business: Meeting the Challenges of a Changing World."

Like other conventions held by ABC Europe, the objectives and challenges of this convention are:

• to emphasize the role of communication as an important part of the overall strategy of successful organizations
• to give an international overview of advances in business communication
• to provide an opportunity for professionals from universities and the business community to get together and share ideas
• to provide a fruitful environment for the discussion of valued traditions in business communication as well as for breaking new grounds

The convention will thus provide a forum for scholars, educators and practitioners from around the world to exchange ideas. This in turn involves a major challenge: integrating diverse perspectives and traditions in communication research, pedagogy and practice.
