Call for Papers
Participants are invited to submit a proposal for
individual or joint papers (25 minutes) or a workshop/symposium
(2½ hours) on convention topics. Requests for fifty-minute
sessions will also be considered.
Submission: Proposals should be sent to Gina Poncini,
Convention Chair, by email attachment gina.poncini@lu.unisi.ch.
The deadline for receipt of abstracts is December 15, 2002.
Proposals must include the following:
- A 1-page abstract for evaluation (at least 300 words)
- A 90-word abstract (or shorter) which will persuade those reading
the convention program to attend your session

Visual aid requests: University of Lugano classrooms are normally
equipped with video projectors (beamers), PCs with floppy disk and
CD-ROM drives, screens, and overhead projectors, and most also include
multi-standard VCRs (e.g. PAL and NTSC). Please specify, however,
your audio-visual needs other than overhead projectors.
Ph.D. Colloquium: If
your proposal is for the Ph.D. Colloquium, please indicate this,
specifying your preference for a 20-minute presentation or a short
5-10 minute presentation (if you are at the beginning of your program,
you are welcome to give a short presentation of your research area
and any preliminary work you may have done).
Notification of acceptance:
Acceptances will be communicated by the end of January in 2003.
Convention-related publications:
Details about convention-related publications will be communicated
following notification of acceptance.
Convention Language:
The official language of the convention is English. Unless the session
description in the program indicates another language will be used,
all presentations will be in English. If another language is used,
we suggest that handouts or slides be at least partly in English
and that more time be dedicated to a discussion, allowing questions
in English as well as in the language of the presentation. Any special
arrangements for interpreting or summaries of points in English
will have to be made by the presenter and communicated in the short
program description.
